At the end of Carnival in Shiltach, the owls and Schiltacher Teufel gather at the tavern to carry Carnival’s body, the Zunfträte is leading the way. To the beat of drums and the sound of weeping, Carnival is burnt in the public square, surrounded by all the owls, who wipe their tears in a huge white sheet.
